Sankofa is a word in the Twi language of Ghana that translates as “Go back and get it”

SAN  (return),
KO  (go),
FA (look, seek and take).

Represented either by a bird with its head turned backwards taking an egg off its back, or as a stylised heart shape.  Sankofa Distribution is a subsidiary of R.A.P. Social club (REUNITED AFRIKAN PEOPLE SOCIAL CLUB), where local youth and adults come together to share cultural stories, events and uplifting moments. Long have we been disjointed in our journey in the west, devoid of the type of unifying habits and practices that glues together. The Akan people believe the past serves as a guide for planning the future. To the Akan, it is this wisdom in learning from the past which ensures a strong future. The Akans believe that there must be movement and new learning as time passes. As this forward march proceeds, the knowledge of the past must never be forgotten. Thus we look backwards to learn the lessons of the ancestors and past practices, that reunites Afrikan people socially, while teaching and building and growing and prospering.

In our news section we will be constantly updating you on our progress and obstacles on our journeys.
